What does the clear coat actually do?

Our UV Headlight Clear Coat restores the protective layer that factory headlights have. After sanding removes oxidation, the clear coat seals the surface, adds gloss, and protects against UV damage so the headlights stay clear for an extended period.

How long does the clear coat last?

With proper application and care, the coating typically lasts 3–5 years, however, factors like sun exposure, washing habits, and climate can affect longevity.

Is this the same as factory coating?

Not exactly. Our clear coat is designed to mimic the OEM UV protective layer found on new headlights. It bonds directly to the plastic and cures into a durable, glossy finish.

Do I have to sand the headlights first?

Yes. Sanding is required to remove oxidation and other imperfections to create a surface the clear coat can properly bond to. Skipping this step will result in poor adhesion and short lifespan.

Is this a permanent fix?

It’s a long-term solution, not permanent. Just like factory coatings, it will eventually wear over time, but it lasts significantly longer than temporary solutions like wipes or sealants.

How long does it take to dry?

  • Tack-free: ~10–15 minutes
  • Handle time: ~1 hour
  • Full cure: 24 hours

For best results, keep the vehicle dry and out of harsh conditions during the curing period. Applying the clear coat in direct sunlight will get the best results.

Can I just spray it over faded headlights?

No. The clear coat is not a “cover-up” product. If applied over oxidation, it will lock in the damage and may cause peeling or uneven results.

What temperature should I apply it in?

Ideal application temperature is 70°F+. Avoid applying in very humid, cold (sub 50°F) very early mornings or late evenings. Apply in sunny conditions preferably during the middle of the day.

How is this different from wipe-on kits?

Most wipe-on kits use temporary sealants that last a few months. Our clear coat is a true UV-cured coating, giving you years of protection and a deeper, more professional finish.
